Todoroki undoubtedly has the most tragic background story. He is the son of Enji Todoroki, commonly known as the Endeavour. Endeavour married a woman with Quirk so that he could create a child who would be strong enough to defeat the strongest hero in the world. Shoto was finally born with both of his parent’s quirks.
Endeavour started training him vigorously so that he could defeat All Might but Todoroki’s mother didn’t want his son to live that life. Due to the abuse from his father, his mother started going crazy. She resulted in her pouring boiling water on Todoroki’s left eye and making it unbearable so that it always reminds him of his father. Endeavour kept Shoto’s mother locked up and consequently, Shoto started rebelling against Endeavour.
Todoroki’s tragic childhood memories caused him not to interact with most of the characters in the series, even his siblings. His face remains unreadable and calm, and his voice is monotonous.

During his fight with Stain, he was able to continue fighting and supporting his allies even when he was suffering from multiple bleeding injuries on his arm and face and was still able to drag the villain’s unconscious body once the battle was over.
Shoto had an incredible amount of athletic abilities. He was fast, smart and had quick reflexes. He came in first place during the majority of the obstacle races. He was the only student in class 1-A who could partly dodge Tenya’s recipro turbo. He was not only an intelligent person but was very much skilled in academics and had the ability to pass through any adversity whilst keeping a calm mind.
His quirk gave him the ability to create ice from the right side of his body and flames from the left side. However, due to the childhood trauma from his father, he never used the fireside and this, in turn, caused him difficulty to control his flames.
